Dwayne De Rosario Offends Toronto FC Fans

It’s been an interesting season for Dwayne De Rosario, and not necessarily in the positive sense, with no goals or assists in nine appearances for Toronto FC. Unfortunately, things didn’t improve for the 2011 MLS MVP after he sent out the following tweet:

Now it should be noted that it’s highly unlikely De Rosario meant anything derogatory with his comments. However, as you often find in the Twitterverse, Toronto FC fans were quick to take offence:

Once the four-time Canadian Player of the Year saw the resulting backlash, he posted another message:

To be fair to the 36-year-old attacking midfielder, there were a lot of people who also came out in his defence. Here’s a selection of tweets that supported De Rosario:

As I said, I truly believe De Rosario didn’t mean anything negative towards Toronto FC fans. However, feel free to chime in with your own thoughts on the matter.
