The Toronto Raptors fan base continues to make their mark as the team’s support during their Game 4 87-79 win over the Brooklyn Nets grew to an 885,000 average viewers on the TSN broadcast–the 2nd most all-time in Toronto Raptors history. A statement released by Bell Media, says that the viewership peaked at around 1.46 million viewers during the 4th quarter of the game. In addition to the thousands of fans showing up outside Maple Leafs Square aka Red Square aka Jurassic Park, the fans have been setting huge benchmarks tuning into TSN during the Raptors playoff run thus far.
And, what may come as a bit of a surprise in a hockey-hungry market in Canada, is that Game 4 also outdrew any first round NHL playoff game this week on TSN.
During the regular season, broadcasters were criticized by the Raptors’ fanbase for airing most of their games on TSN2 or Sportsnet One, instead of the regular cable channels. The fans have responded accordingly as all 4 Toronto Raptors first round playoff games that have aired on TSN and will continue to air on TSN, have shown positive ratings for the broadcasts–drawing over 6 million total viewers combined.
The broadcast schedule on TSN for Games 5-7:
- Game 5: Brooklyn @ Toronto – Wednesday, April 30 at TBD
- Game 6: Toronto @ Brooklyn – Friday, May 2 at TBD
- Game 7: Brooklyn @ Toronto – Sunday, May 4 at TBD (if necessary)
