The Toronto Maple Leafs welcome the New York Islanders to town on Tuesday night in their final game before returning to a somewhat normalized depth chart at centre ice. With Tyler Bozak expected to return from injury and Nazem Kadri returning from suspension, the Leafs will no longer have to rely on the likes of Trevor Smithson down the middle.
But in the meantime, the Maple Leafs have to deal with a John Tavares and his New York Islanders, whom despite struggling to 19 points in 21 games this season, sit just 1 point out of a playoff spot in the woeful Metropolitan division. The Leafs won’t have to worry about the Islanders big in season acquisition as Thomas Vanek won’t be making his return to the New York line up jus yet.
With their cupcake of a November schedule quickly approaching its end, the Leafs will need to continue to bank points before they face a tough December schedule. Dropping one in the home-and-home with the Sabres over the weekend was bad enough, the Leafs will be fully expecting to take two points against a struggling Islanders squad.
