A report out of Philadelphia claims that the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies are closing in on a trade involving catcher J.P. Arencibia.
A source tells our Anthony Gargano that the Phillies and Blue Jays are close to a deal that sends catcher J.P. Arancibia to the Phillies.

The rumour needs to be taken with a grain of salt considering it is indeed the same radio station from which the Dom Brown – Jose Bautista rumours originated, but it should be noted that Ruben Amaro is the GM of the Phillies and J.P. Arencibia fancies himslef a “run producer” which is something that Amaro always seems to covet.
Arencibia has fallen out of favour with the Blue Jays following a season in which he struggled mightily, and was involved in a short feud with Blue Jays analysts Dirk Hayhurst and Greg Zaun. An abysmal bat combined with below average defense and off field distractions is not a combination the Blue Jays are looking to move forward with.
If Arencibia is traded, the Jays will be looking to upgrade at catcher through free agency, or possibly through another trade with a team such as the Angels who are looking to move one of their catchers in Chris Ianetta.
All of this being said, this could be yet another false flag, so ya know, don’t get too excited about J.P. shipping out of town quite yet.
