Maple Leafs

Many seem to believe that Dion Phaneuf is “maturing” as captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, while I on the other hand tend to lean away from the nauseating narrative that is that low hanging fruit and believe he seems more at ease because he’s playing his best hockey as a Leaf. To each their own. [Toronto Star]

In his third season as the coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs Randy Carlyle has finally coached the equivalent of one now that he has passed 83 games behind the bench for the Leafs following Saturday night’s loss to the Bruins. The team is 43-31-8 in Carlyle’s tenure. [Toronto Sun]

While the Toronto Maple Leafs insistence on shoving their support of our Veteran’s down our throats all season long can seem like a bit much, it’s days like today that remind us why that support is needed and deserved. [Fighting For Stanley]

Buffalo Bills

Dick Lebeau and his Pittsburgh Steeler defense have always made rookie quarterbacks look like the first year players they are and Sunday against EJ Manuel and the Bills was no different. [ESPN]

Sunday’s game against the Steelers isn’t exactly how Manuel had planned his triumphant return to the line up going. []

The Toronto Raptors aren’t a very deep team, so an injury could quickly submarine their season before it gets started, especially at point guard where the landscape is barren after Kyle Lowry. [Toronto Sun]

James Harden and the Houston Rockets welcome the Toronto Raptors to town for a Monday night NBA tilt. [Toronto Star]

Blue Jays

Shi Davidi and John Lott‘s new Jays book “Great Expectations” is hitting shelves across Canada, and Jay Blue form Jays Journal decided to review it in case you didn’t already want to buy it. [Jays Journal]

Speaking of Great Expectations, the good people of DJF are giving away a copy, so head on over there to find out how. [DJF]

After a season with Jack Morris working the radio booth for the Blue Jays I was starting to actually like the guy a bit, but then he came out and said that if his Manager or GM had asked him to, he would have led the league in ERA? [CBS Sports]
