The Toronto Raptors are set to kick off their 2013/2014 NBA campaign with a visit from the rebuilding Boston Celtics. While the Raptors are still determing the answer to the “to tank or not to tank” conundrum, the Celtics have gone all in on a rebuild after trading away Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce in the offseason.
Aside from Rajon Rondo, who isn’t currently in the line up, the Celtics don’t have a single player that would likely start on a contending team. The Raptors on the other hand have some of the talent, but none of the depth that is required to compete in the Association.
If the Raptors expect to make the playoffs this season, games against teams like the Celtics, whom aren’t even trying to make the playoffs, are absolute must wins for them. If the Raptors make a habit of losing to the lightweights of the Eastern Conference, you can be sure that Masai Ujiri will blow it up and ensure this team is squarely in the lottery where it belongs.
The Raps win the game and some pizza for their fans with a 101-87 victory.
