Number 20 is the Bills highest ranking since they climbed as high as 19 in Week 4 of last season. If they managed to push past 19th in the coming weeks it will be their highest mark since the 2011 season.
Somehow the Dolphins, whom have lost 4 straight, including a home loss to the Bills are still ranked ahead of Buffalo, albeit only by one spot as they now sit at 19. Miami’s three straight wins to start the season have for some reason blinded the power rankers to their awfulness in the 4 games that followed.
The Bills will be in tough to move up much after Week 9 however as they face the undefeated (and top ranked) Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. While they will be heavy underdogs (rightly so) the Bills may be able to pull of an upset of the undefeated Chiefs. Kansas City is led by a dominant defense that more than makes up for a somewhat pedestrian offense. If the Bills aggressive defense can force turnovers out of the Chiefs offense (not exactly an easy thing to do) this game could get interesting
Following the Chiefs, the Bills schedule gets about as “easy” as an NFL schedule can in a stretch run. They face the struggling Steelers (27), the up and down Jets(16), the reeling Falcons (23), the god awful Jaguars (32), the suddenly bad Dolphins (19) and finally the Patriots (9) to close out the season
