The 3-4 Buffalo Bills are headed to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans to take on Drew Brees and his 5-1 Saints. The Bills are looking to climb back to .500 and keep their faint playoff aspirations alive while the Saints, coming off of their first loss of the season, are hoping to maintain their stranglehold atop the standings of the NFC South.
Coming off of a Week 7 win against their AFC East rival the Miami Dolphins, the Bills are viewed as long shots to win on Sunday, opening the week as 11.5-point underdogs.
While the Saints are clearly a superior team at this juncture, Buffalo certainly has the personnel and ability to give the Saints a run for their money. The Bills will need to get pressure on Drew Brees and establish their run game in order to win the possession battle. The only real way to keep the Saints from scoring is to keep them from having the ball in their hands.
One thing the Bills defense has been able to consistently do is get pressure on the quarterback. Led by Mario Williams 10 sacks through 7 weeks, the Bills have effectively disrupted the oppositions backfield on a consistent basis and will need to do so to have any sort of hope against New Orleans.
With CJ Spiller likely out of the lineup, the Bills will need Fred Jackson to take on a full workload. Establishing an effective ground game and controlling the clock is the Bills best hope to take down New Orleans. If FredEx can step up, and the defense can get enough pressure on Drew Brees to keep the high flying Saints offense in check, this game could get interesting.
