Not including Cody Franson, the Maple Leafs have cut down their training camp roster to 32 players, meaning that over the next 9 or 10 days the Leafs will need to cut it down by an additional 10 or so players.

The quality of hockey that we must endure of the next week and a bit should gradually increase, before finally October 1st will mercifully be here and we’ll be reminded what real hockey actually looks like. After injury scares on Thursday night for both Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Bernier, it seems to me that priority number 1 for the Maple Leafs in both this, and their remaining preseason games should be to stay healthy.

That means no blocking shots with one of the few areas of your body that have the least amount of protection Nazem! Actually, you know what? How about no shot blocking at all. And you David Clarkson, I know you like to mix it up a bit, but the Leafs gave you a whole pile of money, so if you want to get into a fight, can you at least wait until the guys you’re fighting are going to be playing in the NHL and aren’t just trying to make a name for themselves?

Can it just be October 1st so we can watch real hockey already?
