Tower Talk: September 6, 2013

Blue Jays

So apparently Dustin McGowan wants to be a starter again, while the Blue Jays could certainly use the depth, do they want to risk injuring/losing a guy who was a very effective reliever at times this year. [National Post]

AA did some talking, Ben Nicholson-Smith did some transcribing, and Andrew Stoeten did some analyzing, and it’s all right here. [DJF]

Buffalo Bills

The Jairus Byrd saga continues with trade rumours swirling around the Bills franchise safety, it’s very unlikely that the Bills will decide to trade him at such a low value. [NFL.com]

ESPN NFL analyst Tedy Bruschi and ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss break down the Bills and Patriots Week 1 matchup, not the most balanced piece since it’s on ESPN Boston, but interesting none the less. [ESPN]

With Sunday quickly approaching it’s time to look in at the injury reports to see who’s in and who’s out for the Bills and Pats. [Buffalo Rumblings]

Maple Leafs

Morgan Rielly is simply too good for the CHL, but is he good enough to crack the Maple Leafs blueline? He certainly thinks so and here’s to hoping he’s right. [National Post]

Brian Burke joined the Calgary Flames as their President of Hockey Ops. Hey Burkie, if you could go ahead and not use that $30-million in cap space you have next season on stealing away Phil Kessel and Dion Phaneuf, that’d be GREAT. [City News]

Several Maple Leafs are entering the final year of their current contracts, could that lead to better results for the Leafs? [Editor In Leaf]

Raptors

Not much to talk about in Raptors-land until training camp kicks off, so why not take a look back at the most “hyped” acquisitions in franchise history? [Raptors HQ]

TFC/Argos

So MLSE is considering a purchase of the Toronto Argonauts, which is a surefire way to send them into a Grey Cup drought. If they do purchase the team, MLSE wants to look at bringing them to the home of TFC at BMO field, which given what football does to grass, could be a headache for the Reds. [Sports Interaction]
