Blue Jays

The 2013 one has been a miserable one in Blue Jays land, so you can forgive Cathal Kelly for the (hilarious) tone he uses throughout his game recap of the Blue Jays win against the Astros yesterday. Mark Buerhle was once again solid for the Jays earning his 10th victory of the season. [Toronto Star]

Jose Bautista is entering that inevitable phase of his career where his body just won’t respond to gruellnig workouts quite the same way, and his skills will slowly start to erode. While still among the elite, Bautista is no longer the best power hitter in baseball. Nick Ashbourne looks at Jose Bautista’s shrinking wheelhouse. [Bluebird Banter]

John Farrell made some comments last week about the Blue Jays apparent lack of player development. Over at DJF, Andrew Stoeten investigates Farrell’s comments and lays down why they’re kind of dumb. [DJF]

Buffalo Bills

With EJ Maneul already sidelined after a knee procedure, the Bills also lost presumed Week 1 starter Kevin Kolb after he suffered a concussion in Saturday’s preseason loss to the Washington Redskins. In response to their suddenly barren depth chart at QB, the Bills signed free agent Matt Leinart, and traded for Thaddeus Lewis of the Detroit Lions. [Chicago Tribune]

Despite the signing of Leinart and trade for Lewis, it appears as if EJ Manuel may indeed be healthy enough for a Week 1 start against New England. With Kolb seemingly out of the picture, the Bills best chance to win is throwing Manuel into the fire right away. [Buffalo Rumblings]

Raptors

Raptors Republic has revealed the entrants in their “Raptors rebrand” contest. Some are very good…others not so much. Head over, check them out, and vote for your favourite! [Raptors Republic]

The Raptors aren’t likely to be contenders in the Eastern Conference this season, but there are still reasons to watch! [Raptors HQ]

Jonas Valanciunas played for his native Lithuania against the Czech Republic and continued his summer of dominance. Promising signs for Raptors fans. [Raptor Blog]

CFL

The Boatmen lost not only the game, but their start quarterback as well on Friday night vs the Stampeders. The Stamps exposed the Argos lack of a running game and took advantage of not having to face Zach Collaros instead of Ricky Ray. After the game Ray stated he thought the injury was minor, and he was held out mainly for precautionary reasons. [Globe & Mail]

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats managed to claw their way back to .500 with a win over the struggling Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday. C.J Gable scored two touchdowns as Hamilton trounced a hapless Winnipeg 37-14. [CBC]

TFC

The Reds managed to scrape out a 1-1 draw in a battle of the Eastern Conferences worts teams with D.C. United over the weekend. [Sportsnet]
