Tower Talk is your one stop shop for all things Toronto sports. MLB, NHL, NBA, MLS, CFL and even the NFL (a tradition of failure and they play at the occasional game at the SkyDome? The Bills fit right in here), we compile all of the best stories you may have missed about your favourite team.
Over at my old haunt Jays Journal, Michael Wray asks whether or not it might be best for the Blue Jays to just cut ties with Josh Johnson. While I tend to agree that his season has been an abject failure thus far, I still want the Jays to tender him a qualifying offer. If he accepts, we can hope for a bounce back year, if not first round compensation pick!
Speaking of Josh Johnson, Drunk Jays Fans takes a sobering look (see what I did there) about what comes next for the struggling Blue Jays starter
Over at Bluebird Banter, Tom Daker shares a Tom Cheek tribute song titled “Swing & A Belt” by a hip hop artist from Saskatoon named RationaL. It’s available for free download, and I highly recommend it. I mean at the minimum it’s something that isn’t crushingly depressing like pretty much everything else about the Blue Jays at this point.
John Wawrow of the Associated Press gives us five things to know as the Bills prepare to open camp this weekend in Pittsford, N.Y.
I’m a day late on this one but Justin Onslow of Bleacher Report examines the Bills offseason takes a look at some key positional battles that will be taking place throughout training camp.
In case you missed it the Maple Leafs signed RFA Carl Gunnarsson to a 3-year $9.45 million contract avoiding arbitration as I first saw reported from TSN.
TSN tells us Tim Leiweke is comfortable with the management teams he has in place with the Leafs and Raptors. But he is playing his cards close to the chest, at least publicly on the Toronto FC braintrust.
Over at Raptors HQ, Peter Chalach compares the rookie seasons of Demar Derozan, and slam dunk champion Terrence Ross. An interesting comparison, especially when one considers these two plus Rudy Gay gives us an abundance of somewhat redundant wing players.
Trouble seems to be brewing for the Boatmen as CFL.ca is reporting that RB Chad Kackert’s knee injury will see him miss 4-6 weeks. This is in addition to Ricky Ray being listed as day-to-day with maladies of his own.
Over at Wheels.ca Pinball Clemons takes a test drive of the new 2014 Lexus 250 and 350 IS models in the F Sport trim compliments of Lexus of Oakville, and it’s recorded. Oh Pinball, you’re a jokester you are.
